Australian canola oil is sought after all over the world. Due to our unique climate and selective plant breeding programs and superior food quality safety, Australian canola oil is of a higher standard than that produced in other countries.

Highly regarded globally, Australian canola oil is grown in the “grain belt” – a stretch of land covering the southern states of mainland Australia through to Southeast Queensland. At Cookers, we are lucky to have some of the best canola oil in the world at our doorstep.

Australia’s canola oil supply chain is fast and effective, with industry standards requiring the oilseed be no older than the current season. At Cookers, our bulk canola oil is no more than 2 weeks old, making it fresh.

Our Australian canola oil is free from additives which are commonly found in imported and prepacked competitor products.

As a result our locally sourced canola oil lasts longer than imported varieties.

 

Health benefits

The Australian Heart Foundation recommend canola oil as a healthier cooking oil[i].

With the lowest saturated fat content of all commonly available vegetable oils at only 8%, canola oil is the most popular vegetable oil in Australia. With its high levels of oleic acid and the highest omega-3 levels of all commonly available vegetables oil, it’s no surprise canola oil is one of our most sought after oils.

Canola oil is cholesterol free.

Canola oil contains two fatty acids necessary for a healthy diet, omega-3 and omega-6, in the ratio of 1:2.

It has higher levels of the heart-healthy fats, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated, the same type of fats found in avocados and nuts!

Being one of the healthiest oils, and the lowest in bad fats, it makes sense that canola oil is found in margarine, salad dressings, marinades, shortening, sauces and other cooking oil mixes the world over.

 

Cooking applications

Canola oil is best used for shallow frying. Cookers’ canola oil is Kosher, Halal-certified and locally-sourced, making it ideal for general culinary applications. These applications include:

  •  light- to medium-frying 

 

Storage

Our bulk canola oil will maintain best quality properties for up to 12 months.

 As our oils are no more than two weeks old at the time of delivery, ahead of industry standards, our oils will last longer than our competitors’.

 Store in a cool, dry place.

 

Minimal environmental impact

Australian canola oil is known for its sustainable farming practices, including low-emission production lines. In line with the Australian Oilseeds Federation and Grain Trade Australia, very little goes to waste.

We take our commitment to the environment even further.

We are committed to minimising our environmental impact. By not using tins, we cut down on recycling costs and pride ourselves on ensuring that our system reduces landfill. 

Our used canola oil is turned into biodiesel, which is then used to power our trucks! Not only does this cut down on used oil removal, it also cuts down our dependence on fossil fuels.

Our HQ is run on rain water and wind energy – our office is under the largest windmill in Melbourne!
